House Rules

Although there are no set quiet hours, this house does sit up high and loud voices or noise could travel down the valley to neighboring properties, so please be courteous to our friends and neighbors!

There is no lifeguard on duty at the pool or hot tub, so PLEASE watch your children around these areas and swim/soak at your own risk.

Please no food or drinks in or around the pool or hot tub.

We will allow up to 2 dogs MAX

We Do NOT allow cats, no exceptions! The owner has an allergy to cats.

Not suitable for children and infants. No smoking. Check-in is anytime after 4:00 PM

General House Manual / Info:

Pool Info - The automatic cover should be closed when you arrive. The key can be found with the welcome supplies. Please keep it out of reach of children and keep the automatic cover closed when not in use. This will help keep debris, critters, and water quality issues to a minimum during your stay. It is also a mandatory safety requirement.

Automatic Cover (If there is standing water on the cover it MUST be pumped off prior to opening, see PUMP instructions below.)

1) If the blue pump is already on the cover, remove it by pulling the hose line (not the power cord) before proceeding.

2) To open the cover insert the provided key into the locked box just to the right of the steps (as you face the house from the pool). There is a switch in the box with directional arrows indicating open and close. Hold the switch until the cover is fully open but please quickly release it once open to avoid damaging the motor.

3)Say hello to Charlie! He is our pool cleaning robot that helps keep everything sparkling. He can be removed and set aside for the duration of your stay, or left in the pool while you swim at your preference.

4)To close the cover - do the reverse operation, holding the switch until the cover is mostly closed, leaving a small space at the end to allow for the pool robot power cord to move freely. Prior to final departure, please return Charlie to the pool if he was removed.

Pump Instructions.
Use the handle to gently lower the pump onto the pool cover. Try to position the pump on the pool cover as close to the center of the pool as possible using the discharge hose. Extend the discharge hose over the edge of the patio and allow the pump to remove standing water. If there is still standing water and you can’t get the pump toward the center, you can press down on it slightly to encourage the water to pool at the pump.

The pump has a float switch that will turn it on automatically when water is sensed. To remove the pump from the cover, pull it by the discharge hose over to the edge of the pool and set it aside.

Pool toys and floats are in the wood storage bin and the larger wicker unit.

Fire Pit/S’Mores - All fires must be covered by the provided screen to prevent embers from escaping. The location often experiences unexpected wind gusts.

The corner fire pit has drop-offs on all sides, use at your own risk. Please do not move or remove the furniture from that area.

There is also a portable fire pit for use on the stone patio should you prefer. Sticks for s’mores can be found in the metal storage bin on the porch.

HEATING/COOLING:
The house has two zones, one for each floor. We find that the automatic mode setting is most effective with min/max temperatures set to your preference. The basement can get quite cool if the thermostat is left on cooling mode.

PETS:
We allow up to 2 dogs
NO CATS (Owner is allergic), so please don't ask or sneak one in :-)

Notes

The property is accessed through a very steep gravel driveway. In the summer months, all of the vehicles that have tried to gain access to this point have been able to do so, including a Prius without AWD, but it was precarious. Please ensure you travel in an appropriate vehicle and consider the possibility of inclement weather. Island in the Sky is aptly named due to its perched location on a hilltop. The property drops off abruptly on all 3-sides of the patio. Avoid all edges and ensure there is no running or rough-housing on the patio or at the fire pit. There is a large trampoline on the property, always inspect it for any damage and close the safety net during use. One person at a time and use at your own risk. Pool – the pool has an automatic safety cover that must be in place whenever the pool is not in use. This cover is the only physical safety barrier for the pool, there is no gate or fence. If it rains while the pool is covered, the water MUST be pumped off prior to re-opening. Failure to pump off the water will permanently damage the cover and guests will be responsible for the cost to repair. Instructions will be provide, but f you are not comfortable operating the pump, please contact Hosts Matt and Kelly for assistance. There is an option to heat the pool, please contact us for additional information. We also find in the summer months that it gets very warm naturally. We do not have a pool cooler, so please anticipate that the pool water may reach temperatures in the upper 80s Island in the Sky was just built this year so the surrounding landscape has not been completed/grown in. The home, patio and pool are fully ready for your enjoyment, but there is limited to no grassy area or finished landscaping/plantings surrounding the home as those things will take time and need to be completed at a different time of year.
